“Resounding the Spirit of Vietnam” at the Drumming Concert
On Apr. 10th, the first Drums and Percussions Concert themed “Resounding the Spirit of Vietnam” was held in the framework of Hue Festival 2012.
There were 100 impressive drums symbolizing for 100 children of Father Lac Long Quan and Mother Au Co (Vietnamese Legend as the King Dragon and the Fairy), arranged as an impressive circular at Nghinh Luong Dinh.
The program showed the essence of music through the performance of drum and percussion instrumentalists, reflecting in the magnanimity of national traditions. The sonority of bronze drums brought audience back to the time of Hung Kings in the foundation of the country, to the sounds of war drums in the battles led by Tay Son Brothers, and finally to the tenderness of “Cheo” drums (traditional opera) with the love for the homeland.
After the festival, all the drums will be awarded to schools in Thua Thien-Hue and Ben Tre Provinces.
