Marina History
Marina Bay is a famous man-made bay at the mouth of Singapore River in the south of the city. In the late 1970s, Marina Bay was formed when Marina Center and Marina South were reclaimed. The area was originally established and developed to allow outdoor sports and kite flying. Later on, it was turned into a commercial district and eventually became a main tourist hub. In recent days the bay is home to numerous architectural attractions, such as the Esplanade, and is repute for some of Asia’s best shopping centers and the enormous Singapore Casino.

Getting Around Marina
Marina is mainly served by the Marina Bay MRT Station. The MRT connects Marina with other fascinating districts of the city. Moreover, opted for completion in 2013, the Marina Coastal Expressway or MCE will make traveling in and around Marina a lot easier as it will link the district with a network of expressways.

There is a ferry terminal from Marina South Pier in downtown Singapore to the islands of Kusu and St. John. Kusu is famous for its pretty views and its numerous wildlife species. Monday through Saturday, the ferry leaves at 10am and 1:30pm, taking tourists to Kusu and St. John, then back to Marina South Pier. On Sundays, the ferry leaves the pier at 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 5pm. The routes are the same. Traveling by ferry will cost you $15, which includes the Sentosa admission fee.
