Tran temple festival opens in Thai Binh

Tran Temple Festival in Thai Binh will be held at Tien Duc commune, Hung Ha district on February 4th 2012 (13th of the first lunar month of the New Year) with 20,000-30,000 tourists expected to participate.

The Tran Temple Festival is held annually on the death anniversary of General Tran Hung Dao. The five-day festival features solemn rituals and traditional cultural activities, along with sport contests and activities such as a Trung cake wrapping contest, kite flying contest, cock fighting, five-generation martial art performances, wrestling, unicorn dance, sword dance, cheo and van singing, and more.

Especially, on the night of the opening ceremony, there will be a special art programme with extracts of the cheo piece “Sacred land to build Tran’s career” by author Nguyen Thanh.

According to Mr. Luu Duc Luong, the manager of Hung Ha commune’s Bureau of Culture and Information and Vice-chief Organiser of the festival, the fish banquet this year with the participation of 8 hamlets of Tien Duc commune will be one of the special activities.
