Vietnam tour operators, in contributing to tourist development in the coastal province of Binh Thuan Vietnam, tour operators have suggested that resorts in Mui Ne region should gather their information in a common database for more convenient accessibility.

In a seminar held in Ham Thuan Nam recently the operators pointed out that information about resorts in the region was scattered making it difficult when searching for information about the region for international travelers.

They also noted that the current website of the province is poor in content; and does not have enough information about accommodation, prices and services at the resorts.

"Local tourism managers should think about building a database with information relevant to all the resorts in the region and linking it to a website that can be accessed quickly when needed" a tour operator said.

The Vietnam tour operators agreed a database would help them ascertain how many rooms were available, or already full, when calculating the number of international travelers they were planning to bring to the region.

In addition, attendees at the seminar shared the opinion that, although there are some 70 resorts active in the region, the number of rooms in the resorts is limited and inadequate for large groups of tourists.

They commented that for sustainable tourist development, the local authority and resorts still had a long way to go and many things to do, such as brainstorming solutions for environmental pollution, improving quality of staff professionalism in hotelier services and foreign languages and, in particular, creating more entertainment options for vacationers during their stays.

The local province Binh Thuan Vietnam has set a target this year of some 1.8mil visitors, of which international travelers are expected be approximately 10%.

Within the first 10 months this year, 1.45mil tourists visited the province, of which some 150,000 were international travelers.
